Conant High School (CHS) is a 492,000 Sq. Ft. facility used extensively for school and community activities.

A capital improvement project to replace aging steam boilers and absorption chillers. The original boilers and chillers were about 40 years old and required frequent maintenance.

General Energy Corp. designed, engineered, and provided construction management services for this $4 million project.

Main features of the design approach was downsize the installed boiler capacity to match the load, use hot water boilers instead of steam boilers, eliminate heat exchangers, use modular boilers, use primary/secondary piping system, and use direct fire double effect absorption chillers. The project resulted in 42% natural gas savings.
