General Energy Corp. (GEC) is a member of the team headed by ComEd – an Exelon Company, to perform plant wide efficiency assessments of the industrial plants. These plant wide efficiency assessments were sponsored by the City of Chicago Department of Environment and Energy Management, under its ongoing Chicago Industrial Rebuild Program (CIRP).

GEC’s role was to profile natural gas usage in the plants, and investigate opportunities for natural gas use reduction in boiler plants, steam and hot water distributions, process ovens, HVAC, heat recovery, and any natural gas using equipment in the plant.

Energy efficiency assessment of more than 60 plants was completed as apart of this program over a period of four years.
