Evelyn Pease Tyner Interpretive Center, Glenview, IL
The Evelyn Pease Tyner Interpretive Center supports activities to further learning and appreciation for the prairie in which it is placed. The design of the center demonstrates how building systems can be symbolic with natural environment through green technologies or sustainable design.
GEC was responsible for design of building’s Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEP/FP) systems.
The building has net metering as permitted by the utilities and is designed as zero energy building. It is LEED Platinum. Some special features include geothermal heat pumps and photovoltaic panels for power, Energy Recovery, demand control ventilation and displacement ventilation.
The building has been in operation since January 2007 and open to the public since April 2007.
